Learning to swing dance is one of the best decisions you have made! Congratulations. If this is your first time swing dancing, check out Level 1 Intro and then move into the Level 1A and 1B tracks.
We are excited to have you come in for class! If you think Level 2 Curriculum Classes are not a good fit, try a Level 3 class and see how it goes. After class, Dax and Sarah will recommend any changes if necessary and will be more than happy to discuss a learning plan that best suits your level.
Q: What type of shoes should I wear? A: For both men and women, we recommend a shoe that has a smooth sole and ins’t very clunky. Flat shoes are more beginner level and heeled dress shoes are what you will build up to as you get comfortable. Men, we recommend some cap toe’s or oxfords with a leather sole. For ladies, we recommend something comfortable with a small heel, a character shoe, or a female oxford. You can read more about shoes here: http://daxandsarah.com/?p=322
Q: What type of clothes should I wear for class?
A: Something comfortable, but we don’t recommend workout clothes necessarily since it is a bit more social. Men should consider bringing an extra shirt incase they start to sweat more than expected. Please also wear deodorant and be considerate of the fact that we will be dancing with partners and meeting people for the first time.
Q: What should I wear for Vintage Rhythm, the Live Social Dance Party?
A: Dress to impress. Vintage or vintage inspired dance wear is ideal, but if you don’t have it, don’t sweat it. Wear what you feel good going out on the town in.
Q: How long will it take until I can get out there and social dance?
A: This really depends on the person, but in each class we cover a flow of variations that will allow for you to get out there and make it through a full song.
Q: What style do you teach?
A: We have developed our own style of swing that has been adapted from years of experience touring the world working with the best dancers, learning from old videos and taking classes from old timers like Frankie Manning.
Q: Where do I park?
A: We are surrounded by two parking lots and there is street parking. Street parking on main and west of main is what we recommend and most meters are free after 8pm. However you must always check the signs to make sure!
Q: Do I need a partner?
A: No. However, if you bring a partner that really helps keep numbers even. We also offer the ability to split some of our package deals with your partner making for a huge savings!
